WOOT! Metasploit: A penetration testers guide hitting the shelf

Written by David Kennedy
Penetration Testing Security Testing & Analysis
It’s been a long road for us, but it’s finally here! Metasploit: A penetration testers guide is a book that I’ve been working on with Jim O’Gorman (elwood), Devon Kearns (dookie), and Mati Aharoni (muts) for the past year and a half. The book is due out in July and we’re all excited about it coming out. Traditionally speaking there was little documentation around the Metasploit Framework and was hard to master it unless you went through the source code or found someones blog. Offensive-Security quickly changed that by creating the Metasploit Unleashed course with Muts and Jim where Dookie and I have had the pleasure of being authors of and contributing to. It's pretty cool that 3/4's of the authors are on the Back|Track development team so you know this book will kick some butt.

No Starch Press contacted us shortly after it’s creation and we decided to come together to do a book. Our goal of this book was not to teach you everything about Metasploit, since covering every flag and nook inside the Framework would be nearly impossible. It was about teaching you how to become masters of the Framework and leverage it to jump-start your career.... Or even as a seasoned penetration-tester become even better at what you do. The chapters gradually build you up, starting from establishing a foundational methodology around penetration testing leveraging the Peneteration Testing Execution Standard (PTES), then teaching the basics of Metasploit, and moving you through almost every aspect of the Framework until we hit the advanced topics. We cover everything from fuzzing and building your own exploits to constructing your own Metasploit modules. It even covers this one tool called the Social-Engineer Toolkit ☺ This for us is one of the most comprehensive guides into mastering the Metasploit Framework and something we're proud of. Let us know what you think, we put some major time and dedication into this and can’t wait to hear the feedback from everyone! More than 25% of the proceeds received by the authors of this book will be donated to the Hackers for Charity foundation by Johnny Long. You can purchase a pre-order of the book from No Starch Press here: - Metasploit: The Penetration Testers Guide with discount code: REDTEAM for 40% off the book!
