Recently on a penetration test, we ran into some VHD backups that we needed to get access to, being on the inside network it was fast to transfer 20 gigs off the server, but now we needed a way to use Hyper-V to mount the images so we could get inside the virtual machines. Windows 8 supports Hyper-V as long as you are running a 64-bit operating system, however inside of VMWare Fusion, it will allow you to install the base Hyper-V tools, but not the management service and core Hyper-V management service. In order to get around this, you need to configure the Virtual Machine a little bit differently, first, power down the Windows 8 machine, then select Virtual Machine, Settings. Select General: Then select Operating System, Windows, then Hyper-V (Unsupported): From there, get back to the main general area and select Processors and Memory: Click Advanced and select Enable Hypervisor Applications: Next, power on the Windows 8 - go to Control Panel, Programs, Add Windows features, then select Hyper-V and you should have the options that were greyed out all there and ready to go! Once installed, you can use the Hyper-V inside of a Virtual Machine in VMWare Fusion. Enjoy!
